Here I do things a little bit differently to most web designers…

I could have made this homepage look really fancy to show of my skills as a web designer. I didn’t.

Why? Because that is not what Samu is about.

To quote that famous Buddhist Einstein (OK, he wasn’t really a Buddhist, but he did say nice things about Buddhism), I believe in making “…everything as simple as possible, but not simpler”. That is the (some of) the Zen way.

Most web designers are interested in 2 things:

  1. Showing off their skills. Which means they will often “over design” a website adding unnecessary features that are just confusing to the visitor. Web designers may be great creators but they are rarely great marketers and often lose site, in their wave of amazing creativity to the purpose of the website.
  2. Getting the “cash cow” contracts, they want to target large companies with plenty of cash to throw at their internet marketing.

This means there are very few simple low cost websites for people who just want a web presence;

  • Maybe to share your thoughts with the world via a blog.
  • Maybe to promote your local martial arts/tango/knitting group.
  • Maybe for your small business, such as coaches, therapists or small retail businesses.

For these people there are precious little affordable, but professionally designed sites. Most either just simple look horrible, or lack the features you need.
